Responsibilities
- Remove dirt, foreign matter, and loose glass from damaged areas; apply primer along windshield or window edges and allow to dry
- Install replacement glass in vehicles after removing old glass and completing necessary preparations
- Allow glass parts installed with urethane ample time to cure, considering temperature and humidity
- Prime scratches on pinchwelds and allow primer to dry
- Obtain and inspect windshields or windows for defects prior to installation
- Check for and remove moisture or contamination in damaged areas, keeping areas dry until repairs are complete
- Apply urethane around the perimeter of pinchwelds and ensure uniform level and thickness
- Select appropriate tools, safety equipment, and parts based on job requirements
- Remove broken or damaged glass from motor vehicles using hand tools
- Install, repair, or replace safety glass and related materials, such as back glass heating elements
- Install rubber channeling strips to weatherproof windows or prevent rattling
- Shape or smooth glass edges using automated abrasive belts
- Adjust glass temperature in extreme conditions
- Install new foam dams on pinchwelds if required
Requirements
- One to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong work history, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record
- Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry preferred
- Strong organizational, mechanical, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain a flexible schedule, including some weekend work
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, push 200 lbs, and pull 30 lbs
- Must pass a job-specific post-offer physical
- Steel-toed footwear and safety glasses required in the shop
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Working Environment
Primarily indoor shop environment with occasional outside work, weather permitting.
