Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a cleared Windows Server System Administrator to support the DOE Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) contract in Germantown, MD. This onsite role focuses on Windows Server system administration with opportunities to engage in other technologies. You will join a tenured and nurturing team, contributing to national security while developing your technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual Windows-based computer systems.
  • Install, configure, and manage storage appliances.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation, software patching, and tracking.
  • Harden systems using DISA STIGs.
  • Manage Active Directory accounts and group memberships in on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Manage Microsoft Group Policies Objects (GPO).
  • Deploy COTS and custom applications.
  • Automate routine and repeatable tasks.
  • Document systems’ policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications, and schedule information with clients, IT personnel, and team members.
  • Provide Tier 2 customer support.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project or Program Manager.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship with an active DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance.
  • 2–4 years of Windows Server System Administration experience.
  • Computer and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of patching software and deployment (WSUS, SCCM).
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain complex technical documentation.
  • Adaptability to changing requirements and processes.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • MS Hyper-V, VMWare ESXi, or similar hypervisor experience.
  • Familiarity with VMware Horizon vCenter or similar remote desktop software.
  • Familiarity with Smartcards/PKI.
  • Strong troubleshooting and solution research skills.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and LAN/WAN management technologies.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software concepts.

Pay

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands/fingers to operate computers, telephones, keyboards, and standard office equipment.
  • Close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds; must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).

Work Environment

  • General office conditions with moderate noise (e.g., computers, phones, printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in confined areas and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
