Wind Turbine Technician - Power
The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location. Located in Bickleton, WA, the salary range is Technician I to Technician III, ranging from $28.50 to $41.25 hourly, with a DOE.
About the role
Avangrid Power is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician to operate and maintain wind turbine equipment, including substation, collection, and transmission systems. The technician will troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform preventive maintenance. They will also lead plant operations and participate in retrofits and design modifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain wind turbine equipment and associated infrastructure
- Read and troubleshoot schematics for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
- Repair or replace parts to correct malfunctions
- Comply with environmental health and safety programs
- Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines
- Adhere to internal controls
- Collect and prepare reports for wind plant reporting requirements
- Support construction and commissioning walk-downs
- Perform various QA/QC functions and compile supporting documents
Requirements
- One year college or technical school certificate, or 12 months of related experience or wind industry training
- Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment
- Advanced computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management, and reporting systems
- Ability to climb towers up to 100 meters daily
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance
- Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, and positive attitude
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in power plant operations and maintenance
- Experience in wind and solar plant construction, operation, and maintenance
- Specific experience in wind turbine and solar power converters and inverters
- Experience in high voltage switching
- Related experiences in fields requiring strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
Skills
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to work overtime on holidays, weekends, and short notice
- Ability to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color-coded wires
- Ability to solve practical problems and follow instructions
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance
