This position requires local travel within the hub and plays a critical role in maintaining optimal function and output at the wind site through daily turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The Wind Technician partners with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines while aligning with GE excellence standards.
Responsibilities
- Work with site and hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements, including electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators.
- Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by management with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis.
- Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
- Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits (not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear).
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry environments.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs.
- Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university.
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field.
- Experience working with diverse personnel at all levels inside and outside the Wind Farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
- Experience using hydraulic power tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance, including knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.

Pay
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
Schedule
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs.
- Occasional overnights may be required.
