Location: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Benton County (Big Sandy, TN). One full-time, on-site position.

Pay

$3,800 – $5,902 monthly ($45,600 – $70,824 annually).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of full-time wildlife conservation, forestry, farming, or closely related work; OR qualifying college coursework on a year-for-year basis; OR five or more years as a Wildlife Technician 1 with TWRA.
  • Valid driver’s license; some positions may require a current CDL.
  • For the past five years, the candidate’s driver record must not include: DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead worker in the absence of the assigned supervisor or manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training for new personnel and volunteers, including workplace safety precautions.
  • Determine appropriate conditions and quantities for hazardous-material use.
  • Conduct or assist with calibration of agency equipment (electronic scales, agricultural sprayers, flow meters, water-quality meters, thermal imagers, cameras, etc.).
  • Operate farm tractors, heavy equipment, pump equipment, and implements for habitat maintenance and manipulation.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of agency equipment (mechanical motors, trailers, ATVs, farm implements, etc.).
  • Follow operational guidelines for forestry/wildlife surveys, sampling, and nuisance control.
  • Coordinate forest/wildlife research and management programs; trap, tag, band, inventory, or transplant wildlife for research or management.
  • Schedule and participate in agency events, programs, and activities.
