Essential Job Duties
- Greets clients courteously, finds and activates their MI WIC record, determines reason for visit and schedules future appointments. (15%)
- Collects demographic information, performs income determinations, residency and identity checks and voter registrations. (15%)
- Answers telephones promptly, courteously and determines whether to redirect call or handle immediately. (10%)
- Generates WIC benefits, prints shopping lists, issues EBT cards with proper instructions and assures client’s understanding of its use. (10%)
- Responsible for the security of EBT cards and other securely kept materials. (10%)
- Directs clients to the lab, nutritionist, dietitian or other health center staff. (5%)
- Assists in health screenings by performing heights, weights, hemoglobin’s, and blood lead testing. Enters blood and anthropometric data into the MIWIC system and GLBHC’s electronic medical record (EMR). (10%)
- Determines immunization status using the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR). Refers clients for immunizations when needed. (5%)
- Maintains skills to provide basic breastfeeding education and support to all WIC women. Encourages women to breastfeed. (5%)
- Translates, if bilingual, for non-Spanish speaking providers. (5%)
- Maintains a neat, functioning and well stocked work station. Files Nutrition documentation forms. (5%)
- Performs other duties as necessary to aid in maintaining WIC caseload, such as making reminder phone calls, sending reminder or missed appointment postcards, and other outreach activities. (5%)

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: High school graduate or GED.
- Licensure: N/A
- Experience: Previous experience in health services or human service agencies preferred.
- Skills: Spanish/English proficiency. Computer skills. Interpersonal skills: Able to communicate effectively and relate to patients and co-workers in a manner which promotes harmony and productivity. Professional attitude and behavior.
- Physical Effort: Medium. Mostly standing, light lifting of toddlers.
- Hours of Work: Full-time or Part-time. Flexible and varied. Evening hours or Weekend hours maybe required.
- Travel: Limited local travel between GLBHC sites. Reimbursement for expenses consistent with GLBHC policy.
