Wholesale Payments Senior Proposal Writer
About the role
The Senior Proposal Writer is responsible for the strategy and execution of bid solicitations that help Wholesale Payments win new and retain existing business. This includes leading the end-to-end management of highly complex and larger revenue customized, client-centric requests for proposals (RFPs), creating and updating content, developing and managing project plans, and collaborating with proposal teams and subject matter experts.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze high-profile, complex, high revenue bid solicitation documents to understand requirements, scope, and evaluation criteria.
- Identify and escalate potential bid issues, addressing all terms and conditions, mandatory requirements, and exceptions.
- Establish project timelines and priorities based on RFP requirements, workload, risk and quality assurance reviews.
- Conduct research into clients to understand the opportunity and strategy.
- Develop agenda, questions, assignments, and internal timeline in preparation for kickoff call.
- Lead call with deal team to define strategy and win themes, assign tasks, and communicate deadlines.
- Research, write, and edit tailored proposal content, including cover letters and executive summaries.
- Source responses from library and coordinate with SMEs as needed.
- Tailor proposal responses and sections with win themes, value propositions, and differentiators.
- Update opportunities in Salesforce and follow up on outcomes.
- Provide new or updated content from RFPs for library.
- Work collaboratively across the organization, developing strong relationships with sales, product, and other SMEs.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, submitting compliant proposals on time.
- Manage multiple complex RFPs simultaneously, keeping deal teams and deliverables on track.
- Act as a SME within the team to provide guidance, training, and backup support.
- Research and initiate fresh ideas that enhance process, content, and proposals based on industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing or equivalent education and related work experience.
- Seven years of recent proposal writing for highly complex, high-dollar revenue deals.
- Experience working collaboratively within a cross-departmental team and all levels of an organization.
- Ability to synthesize client needs/pain points with Truist solutions and define strategy.
- Advanced skills in storytelling and creating strategic narratives with compelling written and visual content.
- Mastery of the English language, grammar, punctuation.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to ask relevant questions, understand stakeholder inputs, and develop client-centric win themes.
- Proficiency with project management methodologies, collaboration tools, and proposal workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in English, journalism, communication, or related field.
- APMP foundation-level certification.
- PMP Certification
- Experience in treasury solutions, commercial card, merchant services or cash management.
- Proficiency with AP writing style and ability to write in Truist and Wholesale Payments channel voice.
