About the role

Responsibilities
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the teacher.
- Administers a variety of materials and assignments, such as tests, homework, and grades papers.
- Administers first aid and medical assistance as required.
- Aids students with personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations as needed.
- Conferences with teachers and/or parents regularly to discuss student progress and IEP objectives.
- Instructs students in various activities in individual and group settings.
- Maintains instructional materials and student files/records.
- Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students during assigned periods.
Requirements
Essential Functions include adapting classroom activities, administering materials, providing first aid, assisting with personal care, attending meetings, conferencing with teachers and parents, instructing students, maintaining materials, and monitoring students.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate degree or higher, or completion of a qualifying paraeducator assessment. No prior experience is required.
Skills
Specific skills required include instructional procedures, age-appropriate student activities, safety practices, conflict resolution, stages of child development, and behavior management.
