White Plains Landscape Architecture + Planning Studio Lead

About the role

Langan is seeking a White Plains Landscape Architecture + Planning Studio Lead to join its collaborative team in White Plains, NY. This individual will serve a key function in providing management of all aspects of the planning, design, and permitting of Landscape Architecture, land development, and planning projects. The role involves applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices across broad assignments and related fields. You will lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio including waterfront design, urban revitalization and streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, healthcare and university campus design, rooftop gardens, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, land development, and planning projects;
• Lead the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projects;
• Mentor, train, and motivate staff. Supervise, review, and approve work of project staff;
• Plan, schedule, and develop task and project budgets. Prepare progress reports and draft change orders;
• Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines. Minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget;
• Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, prepare proposals, develop additional work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients;
• Actively participate in and maintain a committee-level membership from a professional Landscape Architecture or technical society;
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture required; Master’s degree a plus;
• 10+ years of related experience;
• Passion for design excellence and the challenges of creating inspiring places in urban environments;
• Professional landscape architect license; LEED AP or AICP certification considered a plus;
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator;
• Prior project management experience with the ability to grow, lead, and cultivate staff;
• Knowledge of local, city, county, and state land use processes and regulations strongly preferred;
• Ability to interact well with senior leaders of the firm, coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies;
• Experience in report and proposal writing, billing, and budgeting;
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills both written and verbal;
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment;
• Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and meetings and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Pay

Pay Range: $117,000—$171,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.

Schedule

• Eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time, and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience, and level.
