White Meat Machine Operator (PacMac and Marel Pocket Sizer)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains the operations of assigned processes.
• Provides feedback to the supervisor and collaborates with others to improve process efficiency.
• Completes the machine operation standard checklist at the start and end of each shift.
• Prepares or coordinates the preparation of the work area for start-up and shutdown.
• Sets machine parameters and identifies and corrects minor maintenance issues.
• Monitors and documents machine performance to ensure compliance with end-user requirements.
• Communicates with maintenance and operations regarding machine performance, issues, and product quality.
• Affixes to PM during weekends; may be required to work overtime.
• Recognizes and reports safety hazards, assists with accident investigations, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
• Assists in investigating cost reduction, method improvement, and yield control, as well as equipment maintenance.
• Fulfills all Pilgrim’s rules and regulations, solves operational issues, understands all positions in the department, and performs any additional tasks assigned by supervisor or management.
• Starts and stops machines as needed.
• Performs LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures as required.
• Uses a computer proficiently and handles high-stress situations.
• Works weekends, different shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Attends and completes all required safety training within the IMPACT training system.

Requirements

• Able to read, write, and speak English.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentage calculations.
• Basic understanding of mechanical functionality on equipment.
• Prior knowledge and comprehension of the white meat debone area is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Climbing including ladders.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Working with a variety of hand and power tools.
• Bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching overhead to work on machinery.
• Working in different temperatures and environments.
• Communicating and working well with others.
• Working independently with minimal supervision while keeping leadership updated on issues.
• Following instructions and performing various tasks.
• Adequate attendance record.
• Able to start up and shut down machines.
• Able to be LOTO authorized.
• Able to proficiently use a computer.
• Able to handle high-stress situations.
