About the role
Saputo is a top 10 global dairy processor committed to making high-quality products, investing in its people, and supporting communities worldwide. This is a 18–24 month position with the potential for a quarterly bonus and severance package. The Whey Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining whey processing equipment, performing CIP duties, and ensuring product quality.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-off relief to other Whey Operators in the department.
- Operate and maintain evaporator, dryer, feed system, crystallizer tanks, and silos.
- Perform seal checks and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Keep accurate records and perform analytical lab testing.
- Communicate any out-of-specification product conditions to the supervisor.
- Follow established Product Processing guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure production schedules and changes are met.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform necessary adjustments.
- Support internal and external compliance audits.
- Manage product reclaim within defined guidelines.
- Accurately complete production records and documents.
- Comply with federal, state, and local dairy food regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in food manufacturing, preferably in dairy.
- Advanced quality/food safety training with a focus on dairy science.
- Pasteurizer License - Grade A milk, compliant with state regulations.
- Weigher / Sampler and Appendix N certifications desirable.
- Strong math and computer skills, proficient in SAP (a plus).
- Technical skills, including the ability to operate and understand equipment controls.
- Ability to operate and safely handle lift trucks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Consistent attendance and ability to work overtime.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, changing temperatures, and frequent physical tasks.
- Working with chemicals and wearing personal protective equipment.
- Visual acuity with color perception.
- Physical lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Shift flexibility, including rotating, day, swing, night shifts, and weekends.
