SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Wheel Balancer, you will work as a team to meet on time delivery and exceed customer satisfaction. The Wheel Balancer is a cross functional role responsible for the set-up of machines to meet product tolerances. Weight may be added with MIG welding or removed by grinding material off with angle grinders. This is an excellent opportunity for an Entry Level MIG welder or individual looking to learn MIG welding as a trade.

Responsibilities

• Safety: Follow all safety rules and adhere to core value of business; Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition; Ensure proper and effective operation of machine and tools throughout entire process; Report repairs and/or issues to team lead or supervisor
• Quality: Confirm material, sizes, and parts match job tickets; Ensure all parts and surfaces are free from defects; Able to self-monitor quality of own work, and report to lead or supervisor unusual, defective, or operating difficulties; Complete all tasks and work within designed quality guidelines; Accurately document work performed using company required documents and procedures
• Delivery: Balance wheels based on sizes ranging from 12” O.D. to 36” O.D.; Able to read job tickets, work orders, and instructions; Coordinate staging and sequencing of parts, productions items, and product components; Perform MIG welding operations to add material or angle grinders to remove excel weld and material to successfully balance wheel fan; Perform light maintenance on equipment, machines, and other devices used in the normal course of work performed; Complete tasks as directed with minimum supervision
• Culture: Desire to do the right thing; Team player, assisting other team members and departments as needed with other duties not routine to position; Punctual, on time, ready to work designated shift, every day

Requirements

• Required Experience: 1 year manufacturing environment
• Required Experience: 3-6 months experience MIG Welding
• Required Experience: Mechanical aptitude, able to use grinders and other hand tools
• Preferred Experience: Technical mindset
• Preferred Experience: Strong attention to detail and quality, working within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
• Preferred Experience: Overhead crane operation
• Preferred Experience: Basic math skills
• Preferred Experience: Forklift certification
• Preferred Experience: Read work order instructions, drawings, and specifications
• Preferred Experience: Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Preferred Experience: Self-driven, able to work independently, and as a team
• Education & Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent
