WFD Programs Specialist - Family Development

About the Role

Provide quality job development, income support, and coaching services that increase program participants' capacity to prepare for, obtain, and maintain gainful employment and financial stability to further family development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver quality participant-centered job development training to individuals and groups, in person and remotely.
  • Actively promote family and job development programs and services and recruit program participants through well-managed referral networks.
  • Assist participants with employment skills assessments, resume and cover letter writing, job search, interviewing, and interpersonal/soft skills needed to secure and maintain gainful employment.
  • Maintain an actionable database of employers for participant placement.
  • Coordinate and conduct family and job development programs and service awareness workshops, seminars, and other activities.
  • Work with employees, employers, secondary and postsecondary education institutions, and workforce solutions providers to identify and remove barriers to employment.
  • Engage employers to establish and maintain productive relationships needed to understand and address workforce needs.
  • Assist employers in revising standards that exclude applicants from jobs.
  • Demonstrate to employers the effectiveness and profitability of hiring chronically unemployed participants by identifying suitable job opportunities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry, management, and reporting of participant case records using Goodwill’s database.
  • Assist in the coordination of participant financial support.
  • Maintain productive relationships with government agencies, non-profits, and businesses that offer public benefits and emergency support.
  • Stay informed about human services programs to make appropriate referrals and support participants seeking public benefits.
  • Represent Goodwill in a professional and dignified manner.
  • Collaborate with team members to support participant success and actively participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Support WFD team members to achieve goals and ensure compliance with CARF accreditation standards.
  • Provide necessary program coverage during absences of other WFD staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
