About the role

Miller Industries is seeking a Wet Spray Painter for our 1st shift at our Burton, Michigan location. The ideal candidate will apply liquid coatings to various surfaces using spray painting equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet our standards and client specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as necessary.
  • Operate and maintain wet spray-painting equipment, including spray guns, pumps, and hoses.
  • Mix paints and other coatings to specified colors and viscosities.
  • Apply liquid coatings to a variety of materials, ensuring even coverage and a smooth, consistent finish.
  • Inspect finished products for defects such as runs, drips, and blemishes, and perform necessary touch-ups.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a wet spray painter.
  • Strong knowledge of wet spray-painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent color matching and blending skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain spray painting equipment safely and effectively.
  • Must demonstrate ability to follow directions, produce quality work, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Team player who can also perform without supervision.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and be clean shaven as needed to wear a respirator, including successful completion of a medical evaluation/fit test.

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing setting regularly exposed to noise, fumes, dirt, heat, sparks, smoke, dust, vibration, grease, and moving objects/parts.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required; exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur.
  • Inside working conditions with exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
  • Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to perform duties.
  • Frequent walking, standing for extended periods, balancing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting.
  • Must be able to reach overhead and climb ladders as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear a half-face (elastomeric) air purifying respirator with N95 filters or full-face respirator up to 8–10 hours a day; may require being clean shaven.

Schedule

1st shift: 6 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with overtime as required for production on weekends.
