About the role

The Wet Chemistry Supervisor will work independently and/or as part of a team to provide operational support to the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the department
  • Ensure the quality system of the laboratory is implemented and followed at all times
  • Ensure overall high quality analytical data is produced by the department
  • Recommend capital equipment and prepare justifications
  • Perform routine and complex sample preparation and analysis for the analytical department
  • Discuss technical matters about techniques with clients
  • Drive continuing process improvement
  • Work independently and problem solve issues that arise in the department
  • Advanced instrument/analytical problem solving
  • Answer questions from the client service team
  • Provide authority over staff, including recommending hiring and firing
  • Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel
  • Consult in upper-level decisions within the department
  • Train new employees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or related field
  • 10+ years of experience directly related to industrial hygiene techniques
  • Leadership experience desired
  • Detail oriented, self-starter, strong written and verbal skills
  • Capable of making sound decisions quickly and effectively
  • Comprehensive computer skills – Internet, MS Office
  • Able to operate lab instruments including relevant software and computer programs, including the laboratories LIMS system
  • Quality and quantity of work meets laboratory benchmarks
  • Follows safety requirements including the appropriate use of safety glasses, gloves, lab coats
  • IDC sample requirements are met
  • Company procedures and policies adhered to
  • Turnaround times achieved

Physical and Environmental Conditions

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel small and large scientific equipment
  • Standing to work at laboratory height benches for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Travel Requirements

Limited travel, less than 10%.

Pay

Base Pay is adjusted based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
