About the role
The Wet Chemistry Supervisor will work independently and/or as part of a team to provide operational support to the laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the department
- Ensure the quality system of the laboratory is implemented and followed at all times
- Ensure overall high quality analytical data is produced by the department
- Recommend capital equipment and prepare justifications
- Perform routine and complex sample preparation and analysis for the analytical department
- Discuss technical matters about techniques with clients
- Drive continuing process improvement
- Work independently and problem solve issues that arise in the department
- Advanced instrument/analytical problem solving
- Answer questions from the client service team
- Provide authority over staff, including recommending hiring and firing
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel
- Consult in upper-level decisions within the department
- Train new employees
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field
- 10+ years of experience directly related to industrial hygiene techniques
- Leadership experience desired
- Detail oriented, self-starter, strong written and verbal skills
- Capable of making sound decisions quickly and effectively
- Comprehensive computer skills – Internet, MS Office
- Able to operate lab instruments including relevant software and computer programs, including the laboratories LIMS system
- Quality and quantity of work meets laboratory benchmarks
- Follows safety requirements including the appropriate use of safety glasses, gloves, lab coats
- IDC sample requirements are met

Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel small and large scientific equipment

Travel Requirements
Limited travel, less than 10%.

Pay
Base Pay is adjusted based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
