About the role

Collaborates with patients, families (as defined by the patient), and staff across all disciplines and departments to plan, organize, and direct the clinical support staff assigned to a unit in a community healthcare center.

Responsibilities

• Performs Charge Nurse Duties in absence of Charge Nurse.
• Oversee assigned staff, including but not limited to, establishing work assignments and overseeing flow of unit along with identifying staffing needs.
• Input for performance evaluations and serve as a support lead to the charge nurse.
• Helps identify and participate in process improvement strategies.
• Aid in Care Coordination and Population Health as needed.
• Provide coaching/mentoring of Staff Development of nurse and clinical team.
• Supports and participates in quality strategies in collaboration with Charge Nurse to evaluate compliance with evidence-based guidelines, standards, and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
• Maintain licensure and/or certification requirements for continuing education and best practices.
• Participates in daily patient care (unit) huddles, in some cases ensuring that huddles are taking place along with weekly clinic staff informational huddles.
• Completes all direct and indirect care documentation in a timely manner and ensures patient records are current and complete.
• Attends all clinic codes, performs patient triage as needed, conducts periodic chart audits, de-escalates crisis situations, and attends to other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Prioritize experience in providing clinical care and nursing support within an organization of comparable pace and complexity.
• Experience managing difficult patient/customer situations.
• Collaborates with clinical staff in order to achieve a common goal.
• Knowledge of medical practices and procedures in a healthcare environment.
• Demonstrate success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
• Familiarity with tools, technology, and systems typically found within most health care environments (i.e. Microsoft Office, EMR systems, etc.) for data entry and retrieval.

Preferred Experience

• Prefer at least 2 years of experience as a nurse.

Required Certifications/Licenses

• Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas.
• Current healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card obtained through approved American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

PREFERRED Certifications/Licenses

• AAACN Certification.
