About the role
As the West Regional Market Leader, you will drive growth, major pursuits, and industry visibility for transportation-related Buildings & Facilities across the Western United States, with a strong focus on California and expanding key Western state markets.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute STV's West transportation buildings market strategy, with accountability for pipeline development, pursuit performance, sales, and backlog.
- Personally lead and shape major pursuits for complex transportation facilities, including: Transit/Rail stations and airports, Rail yards and maintenance & operations facilities, Control centers and operations hubs, Administrative buildings and intermodal facilities, Building systems and utilities infrastructure improvements.
- Serve as STV Building's Group primary face to West Coast transportation agencies, including regional transit authorities, DOTs, and major infrastructure owners.
- Identify and influence opportunities years in advance of procurement, shaping scope, delivery strategy, and teaming.
- Build and lead high-performing pursuit teams across architecture, engineering, planning and specialty partners.
- Maintain accurate opportunity planning and forecasting within Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Expand STV's presence in transportation-related architecture and buildings engineering design across the Western U.S.
- Build and maintain relationships with key agencies such as: LA Metro, BART, Caltrain, California High-Speed Rail Authority, Sound Transit, Regional transportation commissions and West Coast DOTs.
- Maintain active involvement in industry organizations such as APTA, AREMA, WTS, AIA, ENR, and TRB, with a focus on West Coast engagement.
- Speak, present, or serve on panels to elevate thought leadership and market visibility.
- Leverage your existing network to amplify STV's brand and regional influence.
- Mentor Project Managers, and technical leaders to build a strong West Coast talent bench.
- Influence strategic recruiting efforts aligned with regional growth priorities.
- Serve as Project Executive, Principal-in-Charge, or senior advisor on select transportation facilities projects.
- Ensure delivery teams are aligned with client priorities, regional expectations, and agency standards.
- Translate lessons learned across projects and regions to drive consistency, innovation, and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in the planning, design, or delivery of transit and transportation-related buildings.
- Proven leadership experience across the Western U.S. transportation market, including transit, rail, aviation, or intermodal facilities.
- Demonstrated success leading major pursuits for stations, maintenance facilities, or large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.
- Established relationships with West Coast transportation agencies and infrastructure owners.
- Credibility as a seller-doer, combining market leadership with project delivery expertise.
- Background as a Client Account Manager, Market Leader, Practice Leader, Project Executive, or senior technical leader within AEC or PM/CM.
- Strong desire to define, grow, and lead a regional market sector, with potential for national impact.

- Professional licensure (Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, or equivalent).
- Conference speaking, panel participation, or published thought leadership.
- Experience scaling firm visibility and reputation in competitive West Coast markets.
- Proven ability to influence recruiting and mentoring strategies across multiple offices.
- Experience integrating architecture, and engineering disciplines across complex transportation facility programs.
- Familiarity with: California procurement processes (e.g., design-build, progressive DB, CM/GC), Federally- and state-funded infrastructure programs, Long-range capital improvement programs across Western agencies.
