West Columbia Grocery - Overnight Stocker - Part Time
About the role
As a Night Stocker, you'll become part of a highly-functioning team in the Grocery or Drug Store department, watching out for each other, working to meet common goals, and sharing that nighttime work lifestyle. Because you'll be stocking for a large footprint in the Store, you'll learn about multiple products and departments across the total Store. These learning opportunities will serve as a building block to many other jobs, and potentially, a career for you at H-E-B.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities and essential functions of this role include:
- Stocking shelves, refilling displays, and loading/unloading heavy, bulky products
- Conditioning shelves and products, and learning/applying product knowledge with attention to detail
- Keeping the department clean and well-organized, including the back room and shelves
- Applying personal discipline to ensure compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leader direction
- Ensuring federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product food safety and sanitation are met
- Working efficiently and with a team attitude, and complying with/maintaining productivity standards
- Taking constructive feedback well and applying learning to future tasks
- Coaching/training other Stockers as needed
In addition to stocking responsibilities, you will also be expected to provide customer service, including operating with a team mindset, learning/modeling customer service and hospitality, and assisting customers in locating products and answering product questions.
Qualifications
To be qualified for this role, you must be at least 18 years old and have experience stocking and in customer service (preferred). Experience working in a physically demanding job is a plus. You must also have:
- Understanding of SOPs/guidance related to emergency procedures, proper stocking, etc.
- Communication skills, reading/writing skills, and organization/time-management skills
- Customer service skills and a service mentality
- Ability to perform repetitive, physical tasks that sometimes include heavy lifting
- Ability to think on your feet and work with agility
- Ability to work as part of a team to meet nightly goals and manage multiple priorities
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
The physical demands and working conditions of this role vary by department, but may include:
- Constantly reaching at waist and grasping
- Frequently standing, walking, and bending
- Occasionally reaching at overhead, shoulder, knee, and floor, and stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, and climbing stairs
- Exposure to cold, loud noise, ambient temperatures, and wet conditions
- Demonstrated ability to lift 50-86 lbs and manage in excess of 50-100 lbs, depending on the department
