Classified Salary Schedule TITLE: WES Instructional Paraprofessional (Technology) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Designee Qualifications High school diploma or GEDExperience working with students is preferred.Able to maintain confidentiality about all aspects of the students, their progress and parental information.Requires basic language, math and writing skills and must pass ACT Workkeys Applied Math and Business Writing Exams or have 48+ college credit hours at Accredited College/UniversityKnowledge of general office equipment preferred.Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training preferred or willing to trainCPR Training preferred or willing to trainMay be required to obtain a Substitute Authorization from CDE JOB GOAL: The Instructional Paraprofessional is a special position within the district that requires confidentiality, patience, a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to give positive feedback for small accomplishments as they are gained by the students on a daily basis. Responsibilities Works directly with students, as assigned by the building principalAble to follow directions from the supervising teacher(s) and building principalAble to read and help assist students with assignments as deemed necessary by the supervising teacher/principal.Prepare instructional art work, such as posters, bulletin boards, displays, charts and visual aidsAdminister or assist with tests and grade papersMonitor student behavior on playground during lunch and recessCarefully documents student achievement and behaviorRecognizes oneself as a role model and acts accordingly.Records work completed by the students and makes records available to the supervising teacher and building principalCommunicates effectively with the supervising teacher, parents and building principal as deemed appropriate by the supervising teacher and building principalMakes referrals about concerns to the appropriate staff members within the districtFosters and maintains a professional relationship with co-workersArrives and leaves at predetermined times as determined by the building principal and/or supervising teacherHelps maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the classroom environment and school buildingAssists in typing, operating office equipment (copier), organizing teaching materials and assisting with grades and reports as required by the supervising teacherDaily contact with persons in the same work unit or building, persons in other departments or buildings, students and parents to provide serviceOther duties as assigned by direct supervisor or designee Special Notes PHYSICAL DEMANDS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, by one's self. WORK ENVIRONMENT - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. MENTAL FUNCTIONS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, communicate and use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute and compile. Occasionally required to synthesize, evaluate and negotiate. EVALUATION: Performance of the Instructional Paraprofessional will be evaluated annually by the building principal following the evaluation criteria as written in the RD-2 Policy Manual.
