About the role

The Wellness Programming Assistant (WPA) plays a crucial role in the development and delivery of group programs in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Connections for Living environments. This position supports the Director of Wellness Programming by facilitating daily group programs, preparing spaces, managing materials, and encouraging participation.

Responsibilities

  • Build supportive relationships with residents to understand their interests and abilities, planning and facilitating engaging group programs, special events, and outings.
  • Encourage participation by reminding, motivating, and escorting residents to preferred programs; assist with transportation as assigned.
  • Prepare and manage program spaces, supplies, and materials to ensure safety, accessibility, and a welcoming environment; capture photos and videos for newsletters, displays, or social media.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, resident-led groups, and community partners; utilize electronic systems for content management, documentation, communication, and reporting.
  • Aid the Director of Wellness Programming with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned, promoting MBK’s core values.
  • Provide backup transportation support, ensuring residents have safe, timely, courteous, and reliable access to essential transportation services.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a spirit of teamwork and open communication, aligning with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other duties as consistent with the position and as assigned by the Supervisor, Executive Director, or designee.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Associate’s degree, preferred.
  • 1+ years of work experience leading groups with varying levels of physical and cognitive independence in a similar industry or environment, preferred.

Competencies/Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and valid insurance for transporting residents, willing to qualify for and obtain the required class of license for company vehicles, as needed.
  • Complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Reasoning skills, including the ability to understand issues and process information for the purpose of giving and receiving feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, and read English, and be able to effectively communicate with groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Competent technical and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions when circumstances warrant and remain calm during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently without direct oversight and supervision.
  • Positive and professional image.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to support a flexible work schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday, in the community, and between neighborhoods.
  • Ability to move and assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers or in emergency situations.

Education Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED, required. An Associate’s degree, preferred.

Schedule

Tuesday - Thursday 9am to 5pm

Qualifications

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to stand or move continuously throughout the day for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds, necessary.
  • Able to assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers or in emergency situations.
