Wellness Instructor - Med Wellness & Recreation

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Med Wellness & Recreation - Group Fitness seeks temporary Wellness Instructors to conduct assessments, develop and implement training regimens, provide fitness coaching, facilitate science-based workforce interventions, and monitor fitness areas.

Responsibilities

• Conducts fitness and health risk assessments and baseline biometric testing.
• Reviews health history questionnaires to assess risk factors that may require medical clearance.
• Compiles and manages member intervention and fitness data using relevant programs.
• Develops and implements structured exercise programs for members, such as personal training.
• Maintains, cleans, re-racks, and organizes all equipment at the end of class.
• Assists wellness programs and membership staff in facilitating orientations, educational programs, and marketing campaigns.
• Teaches group exercise classes (in-person and/or virtual), including Yoga at various levels, Mat and Reformer Pilates, and Dance classes.
• Acts as substitute for other class instructors as needed.
• Develops and presents fitness and intervention educational sessions to members.
• Answers members' questions and instructs them on how to operate equipment.
• Ensures members are following policies and procedures in the fitness areas.
• Serves as a liaison between wellness programs and membership staff.
• Attends mandatory meetings and master class sessions as required.
• Maintains all mandatory education certifications.
• Maintains constant communication with Fitness & Wellness Center administrative offices and supervisor by email, phone, in-person, etc.
• Follows all Fitness & Wellness Center policies, procedures, and standards including existing music and video policies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience.
• Relevant certification in a specialty or field.
• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Commitment to the University’s core values.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications
