About the role
This is a part-time position requiring 8 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead group fitness classes, workshops, or seminars focusing on different aspects of wellness.
- Instruct participants in proper exercise techniques, stress reduction methods, and other wellness-related practices.
- Conduct individual wellness assessments to understand participants' health goals, limitations, and preferences.
- Provide personalized guidance and recommendations based on individual assessments.
- Educate participants on the principles of nutrition, fitness, and overall healthy living.
- Offer guidance on lifestyle modifications and behavior change strategies to support long-term wellness goals.
- Ensure that all wellness activities adhere to safety guidelines and industry standards.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in wellness and fitness to incorporate evidence-based practices into programs.
- Motivate participants to maintain regular participation in wellness activities.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to individuals striving to make positive lifestyle changes.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and any relevant health information.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments as needed to meet participant needs and organizational goals.
- Effectively communicate with participants, colleagues, and management regarding program details, schedule changes, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate with other wellness professionals to create a comprehensive approach to health and well-being.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the leadership team based on business needs.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a related field such as exercise science, kinesiology, health promotion, nutrition, or a similar discipline is often preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Wellness Coach, Certified Fitness Professional, or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) may be required or strongly recommended.
- 5+ years of experience as a wellness instructor, fitness trainer, or in a related role.
- Certifications in fitness training/instruction, personal training, yoga, and/or wellness coaching.
- CPR/BLS certifications.
- Proficient in healthcare systems and EHR/EHS systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
Pay
Compensation range: $60.00 to $75.00 hourly.
