About the role
This position oversees the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community support services and directly supervises the health care given. The Wellness Director assesses health, functional, and psycho-social status of residents, initiates individualized service plans, proactively manages care and services for each resident, evaluates effectiveness, and maximizes the resident's opportunity to remain in the assisted living environment. The role promotes residents' health and wellness through regular visits, resident assessment, and ongoing communication with the resident, their family, and the MorningStar care team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the staffing needs of the Assisted Living/Memory Care Community by interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising the Assisted Living Coordinator, Reflections Coordinator, and MCMs.
- Manage the health care of all residents, including dissemination of information to families, staff, physicians, and third-party providers.
- Perform duties in accordance with established methods and techniques and in conformance with recognized standards.
- Perform on-site assessments of residents admitted to hospitals or skilled nursing facilities for treatment, and maintain contact with the resident's family and discharge planner.
- Complete pre-admission assessments for each resident and update every six months or as needed with change of condition.
- Initiate resident negotiated service plans according to the individualized needs of the resident as prescribed by physician and/or community policy. Provide resident and family instruction, seeking input from the resident and family in the development of the plan.
- Perform ongoing assessments of residents' physical and psycho-social needs and coordinate with other departments to assure proactive quality care.
- Order medications and oversee the resident's medication schedule for those receiving medication administration services. Audit medication records and cart twice weekly to ensure proper documentation and availability of prescribed medications.
- On-call duties for staffing and scheduling, and work as MCM when others are unavailable. Provide coverage in emergencies to ensure medication assistance is provided.
- Ensure all infection control guidelines are met.
- Maintain knowledge of Assisted Living regulations, medication administration regulations, and Occurrence reporting.
Requirements
- Demonstration of MorningStar Core Values: Love, Kindness, Honesty, Goodness, Fairness, Respect.
- Current Nursing License issued by appropriate state licensing agency (LPN or RN).
- First Aid certification as required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the elderly in an assisted living, skilled nursing, or hospital environment preferred.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and providing related resident-care services.
- Understanding of standard techniques used in providing personal services for residents and in caring for equipment and supplies.
- Good understanding of universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.
- Awareness of the assessment process, and the development and execution of negotiated care plans.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations according to MorningStar standards and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procurement manuals.
- Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Basic typing skills and working knowledge of personal computing and word processing software.

Pay
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday (Daytime hours).
- On-call duties as needed.
