About the role
We are seeking a dedicated fitness professional to evaluate, motivate, and guide clients toward their well-being goals through personalized activity programs. The ideal candidate will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while promoting membership growth and adhering to high standards of operation.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and plan individualized activity programs for clients based on their needs and abilities, including correcting, counseling, and assessing performance.
- Motivate clients to meet their fitness and wellness goals using current best practices, equipment, and terminology.
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and the Transition Governing Board through written and verbal instructions.
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and sanitary environment, including equipment and physical plant upkeep.
- Promote client use of sanitizing materials after equipment use.
- Encourage membership growth and present a positive image of the program to potential new members.
- Ensure facility utilities (heating, lighting, water) are functional and perform necessary custodial or maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and assist clients with their activity programs, scheduling reviews for modifications to improve performance.
- Oversee appropriate use of equipment and provide individual assistance during low-attendance times.
- Perform blood pressure measurements for clients upon request and maintain workout session records.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report facility or equipment needs to the Managing Governor.
- Complete and submit reports as directed, including daily member attendance (in half-hour intervals), guest logs, and contract tracing records (retained for 28 days).
- Inform the Managing Governor of program needs bi-annually (June and January) or sooner if critical.
- Complete at least one professional growth activity annually with advanced authorization.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Governing Board.
- Order supplies as needed and inform the Managing Governor.
- Adhere to the center’s operating calendar and submit vacation or schedule change requests at least two days in advance.
Requirements
- AAS in Human Performance and Health Promotion or BS in Physical Education (or equivalent education and training).
- Current certification in CPR and AED (must be submitted; if out of compliance, certifications must be completed within 45 days of the center’s opening).
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesthetic movement.
- Ability to interact positively with clients, the public, and the board.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Promptness, thoroughness, and ability to follow directions.
