Wellbeing, Health, & Safety Specialist - Toledo Machining Plant

This is a 1st shift role and the candidate selected for this position will need to be flexible to cover any shift (days, afternoons, or flex).

About the role

The Plant Wellbeing, Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing and administering standardized WHS processes to ensure compliance with Federal, State, Provincial, and Local regulations and Corporate Policies and Procedures. This position will help achieve world-class status and impact corporate savings through the elimination of occupational injuries/illnesses, property damage, and improvement of production efficiency, as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees. This role will focus on health and safety compliance, Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) safety activities, Safety Management System (ISO 45001), and health and safety improvement goals.

Responsibilities

• Implement WHS training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted.
• Conduct regular audits of WHS processes and necessary follow-up to ensure compliance; advise plant leadership and corporate WHS staff of findings.
• Analyze injury/illness experience, including ergonomics; identify/track injury correlation, determine root causes, implement corrective action, and communicate this information to plant leadership and corporate WHS.
• Support new equipment programs at the concept stage to ensure WHS design specifications and regulations are included.
• Manage routine safety reports, including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval.
• Coordinate communication of WHS regulatory inspection activity with plant leadership.
• Lead WHS projects to improve WHS key performance metrics.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant’s safety management system to meet ISO 45001 and SIS safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of Safety, Engineering, or similar experience in a Manufacturing environment.
• Willing to work any shift to cover business needs (days, afternoons, or flex).
• Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial, and Local regulations and requirements.
• Willingness to work additional hours as required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and/or other software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Safety-related professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH).
• Master’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or related field.
• Automotive or manufacturing experience.
