Well Being and Life Skills Coordinator

About the Role

Join our dynamic team at the Julie & Mike Connors Workforce Readiness Center located in Dreher Park, West Palm Beach. The Well-Being & Life Skills Coordinator (WLSC) is responsible for the implementation and delivery of Well-Being & Life Skills programs with the goal of supporting students to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. The WLS program includes Bullying Prevention, Drug and Violence Prevention, Character and Leadership, Mentoring, and Health & Life Skills. The WLSC coordinator creates a trauma-informed approach and culture by collaborating with club staff, family members, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer programs, services, and activities for members that are fun, educational, and engaging in alignment with BGCA Formula for Impact objectives.
• Conduct SMART lessons, games, and activities provided by the WLS Program Manager on a daily or weekly basis.
• Complete weekly individual case mentoring assignments, draft service plans, review case progress, and determine case closure for BGCPBC members.
• Act as a mentor to help members make informed decisions regarding their behavior.
• Develop effective working relationships and cooperate with BGCPBC members and their families through behavioral progress plans and accommodation plans.
• Deliver at least 3 family educational sessions annually addressing the needs of adult family members of the club.
• Arrange referrals with social services, mental health, and governmental agencies as needed.
• Interact with members to track behavioral progress through case notes and ensure behavioral satisfaction.
• Record case information, complete necessary forms accurately, and produce statistical reports.
• Collaborate with and mentor student interns assigned to the club, providing guidance, support, and hands-on learning opportunities.
• Meet with families and facilitate member intakes.
• Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes.
• Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations.
• Report statistical information for DOE, DJJ, and OJJDP grants.
• Complete yearly program training through DJJ.
• Participate in staff meetings and training as required.
• Mentor Club members.
• Provide trauma-informed redirection to members where needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, Human or Youth and Families Services.
• Ability to use technology as a means of instruction and to communicate programs to Club members.
• Experience in teaching or education field preferred.
• CPR certified.
• 2-3 years’ experience working with children in a Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) background or environment.
• Ability to create positive and professional relationships with employees and Club members.
• Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, ZOOM, etc.).
• Ability to distinguish when to discipline and when to counsel members.
• Ability to be creative with programs.
• Ability to enforce Boys & Girls Clubs rules and policies in a fair and equitable manner.
• Valid Florida driver’s license – able to meet insurance requirements (required for driving to different Club Sites, Administrative Office, and/or off-site meetings/training).
