Welding Shop Helper

Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Welding Shop Helper. This individual will be a key player in fabrication operations at our Harahan, LA location. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision. Responsibilities Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned areaOperate shop equipment as necessaryAssist fabricators in performance of their dutiesGather materials.Move material to next stationAssist as need with cleaning and appling chemical treatments to weldsAssist other departments as needed through cross‑training and providing coverage during busy timesIt is essential that this position is performed at the facility. Requirements High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environmentEntry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materialsMust be able to learn Laitram Machinery Quality StandardsMust be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs Desired Qualifications Previous fabrication experience and/or vocational training.Previous overhead crane experiencePrevious forklift experience EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled
