Welding Instructor

Position Summary

Prairie State College is seeking an experienced part-time Welding Instructor to deliver customized welding training to a wide range of clients. The ideal candidate will hold AWS certifications in SMAW and GMAW or GTAW welding applications.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instructional activities that align with curriculum goals.
• Organize lessons logically to meet all program objectives.
• Utilize effective assessment tools to evaluate student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
• Communicate effectively with students to support their educational development.
• Open and close the welding lab safely and securely.

Education

• Conduct classes independently with minimal supervision.
• Provide progress updates on students when requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) or AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated instructional or training experience.
• High proficiency in welding; a competency test will be part of the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field.
• Previous teaching experience, ideally at the community college level.
• Experience working with culturally and intellectually diverse populations.
• Ability to employ varied teaching methodologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Training & Certification

• Work schedule varies based on course schedules and customized training assignments.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting at $35 per hour (minimum rate).
