Welding Instructor (Adult Ed) - Part-time
About the role
The part-time instructor's role is to teach a wide range of welding technology courses. The instructor shall be responsible for following curriculum, preparing lesson plans, selecting appropriate books and teaching materials, and successfully teaching subject matter to adult students.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and with others, under the direction of the Director of Higher & Continuing Education and Adult Welding Coordinator to perform required tasks
- Communicate with staff, clients, service providers, contractors and visitors in an efficient, effective and timely manner
- Aid in the selection of books, tools, and equipment
- Work in conjunction with the Secondary Program Faculty to maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment
- Maintain accurate records for attendance, progress charts and grade reports
- Use proper and accepted instructional techniques to reach adult learners with a variety of learning styles
- Develop and conduct learning programs and associated materials for students with the ultimate goal of producing entry-skilled and employable students
- Develop innovative partnerships with private industry, businesses and other educational and community-based organizations that provide mutual benefit to the community, school, and students
- Assist in maintaining State and national credentials/accreditation
- Assist students to develop skills which will enhance student ability to obtain and maintain employment; Support students in acquiring employment and/or continuing education by assisting in development of resumes and various job search materials
- Follows basic first aid procedures as necessary
- Completes required paperwork for postsecondary/Adult education programs; and Uses professional judgment to provide and maintain an educational environment conducive to learning
Requirements
- A valid driver's license
- Child Abuse, PA State Criminal, and FBI Clearances
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, such as trade-specific equipment
- Able to use and maintain Machinery and Equipment specific to trade
- Adheres to the established work schedule through regular and consistent attendance
Qualifications
- A high school diploma (or equivalent)
- 3 or more years of relevant industry experience in ARC, MIG and TIG welding
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office

$32.75/hour
Schedule
Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., depending on need (not a set schedule)
