About the role

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Plant Welding Instructor to administer the Hager City, Wisconsin utility pole manufacturing plant's welder training program (pole school).

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of daily pole school operations.
  • Maintenance of welder candidate training, testing, and qualification records.
  • Hands-on welder candidate training for FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/oxyfuel cutting, and air-carbon-arc gouging processes.
  • Conduct classroom training on welding safety, welding, and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, drawings, etc.
  • Perform hands-on, pole layout and fit-up training.
  • Provide additional training (OJT) to production welders as required.
  • Assist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as required.
  • Participate in welding improvement projects/other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/air carbon arc, and layout/fit-up experience, preferably in the utility structure industry.
  • Able to effectively present classroom training and hands-on welding application training.
  • Proficient in conducting AWS D1.1 welder qualification tests and generating welder qualification records.
  • Welding-related associate degree desired.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) desired.
  • Proficient in using various weld inspection tools such as amp/volt/wire feed/gas flow meters, fillet weld gages, undercut gages, etc.
  • Possess written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
