Welder-Pipefitter

About the role

McCarthy is excited to hire full-time commercial welder-pipefitter for our commercial team. McCarthy is looking for team members that have a proven commitment to safety and can be committed to a full-time schedule in Bismarck, ND. The ideal candidate is local to the Bismarck area, or must be willing to travel to the location of the project site.

Responsibilities

• Experienced with shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), and tungsten inert gas welding (TIG).
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on civil construction projects.
• Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in welding preferred.
• Appropriate pipe certifications required.
• Familiarity with shop fabrication techniques and strategies.
• Experience using a cutting torch.
• Must pass a 6G position welding test for carbon steel pipe.
• Knowledge of Process Piping Systems/Isometric Drawings.
• Comfortable working in the prefabrication shop as well as out in the field.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of construction principles/processes.
• Proven commitment to safety and building relationships in a team setting.
• 6G Pipe Certified.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on construction projects.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Knowledge of surface preparation, electrode storage, welding machine set‑up, etc.
• Self‑motivated.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple trade activities occurring simultaneously.
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test and be subject to random testing throughout the project.

Pay

Pay rate is determined by the candidate’s current level of knowledge and experience; licensed welders receive a $2.00 increase to base pay.

Schedule

Full‑time position based in Bismarck, ND; willingness to travel to project sites as required.
