Responsibilities
- Perform various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations, as needed, to manufacture projects to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Weld or join metal and other materials by applying appropriate techniques.
- Following engineering plans, drawings, and instructions.
- Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment.
- Inspecting and testing welds.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations, and maintain a safe and clean work area and tools.
- Varying other duties as required, directed, or assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- 1+ year minimum welding experience in a similar field.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications, and to perform work there from or from other written or verbal instruction.
- May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards.
- Must pass a drug test.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic reading, math, and writing skills.
- Attention to detail and highly motivated.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Ability to work overtime on occasion.
- Possess appropriate tools to perform job duties.
Physical Requirements
- May frequently lift or move heavy-weight material and work in difficult positions.
- Frequent mental and visual attention on an intermittent basis.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull, and work at heights, and in small tight spaces.
- Requires working under somewhat disagreeable conditions frequently where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water, or chemicals may be present.
