The Welder is a key position in the Company and will support and contribute to the company goals of profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and accident prevention.

Essential Functions Of The Job

  • Focus, communicate, adjust and operate welding equipment to perform non-critical welds on fabricated parts and subassemblies.
  • Maintain production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts welded.
  • Load fabricated parts or subassemblies into jigs and fixtures.
  • Prepare the surface to be welded by grinding, buffing or brushing so the weld can be performed.
  • Visually examine welds for adherence to blueprint specifications.
  • Maintain welding equipment and make adjustments on equipment to prepare it to weld different parts or subassemblies when changing from one part to the other.
  • Load and unload fixtures.
  • Perform simple measurements using devices or gauges to check work.
  • May skip weld designed parts to secure pieces for other welders.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Ability to understand and follow simple instructions.
  • Capable of performing standard measurements.
  • Knowledge of basic procedures of mig welding required.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to speak, hear and see to perform duties to communicate and build subassemblies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge and ability to read blueprints with weld symbols and specifications.

Education And Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 months to 1 year experience in welding required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, will be exposed to a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant.
  • Must be able to stand approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to stoop, lift and reach around on a constant basis.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended amount of time.
