Weld Repair Operator

Responsibilities

• Perform weld repair on metal components using MIG methods.
• Use checking fixtures and other measuring and gauging equipment to test and determine compliance to customer requirements.
• Responsible for counting and labelling of finished components and recording all appropriate production information.
• Enter accurate information into inventory system using bar coding scanners as required.
• Ensure all production paperwork is filled out accurately and on-time.
• Follow oral and written instructions, and provide clear communication to co-workers and supervision.
• Check assemblies to fixtures, gauges, tools, or visual inspection aids (e.g., inspection instructions, operator instructions).
• Follow Control Plans and work in accordance with Company, Quality, and Safety specifications.
• Ensure work area and machines are clean and safe at all times.
• Point out problems and concerns related to quality, productivity, or safety.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as tip changes, tool changes, and set-up of equipment.
• Perform finished goods inspection per control plan and operator instructions.
• Work in a safe manner at all times.
• Work in compliance with IATF (formerly TS 16949) and ISO14001 standards.

Requirements

• Interested to work in either a 2nd or 3rd shift.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Experience with MIG Welding.
• AWS Certification is a plus.
• Two years related experience in an automotive manufacturing or similar manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate any and all equipment as necessary.
• Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team or on single operations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Flexible with working hours.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Training & Evaluation

Associates receiving a job transfer or promotion will undergo training and evaluation in their new position. The training duration depends on the position and the individual's ability to learn and perform required duties. Performance evaluations occur at 30, 60, and 90-day intervals, focusing on compliance with safety and quality standards, job knowledge, dependability, resourcefulness, teamwork, productivity, and housekeeping (6S). If further training is needed after 90 days, the evaluation period may extend an additional 30 days. Failure to maintain satisfactory performance may result in disqualification from the position. Disqualification or resignation from a job may impact future promotional considerations.

Skills

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to safely and effectively operate machinery and material handling equipment within the orientation period.
• Ability to pass post-examinations for position-required training.

Mathematical Skills

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide three-digit numbers.
• Use and accurately read micrometers, dial calipers, digital indicators, tape measures, feeler gauges, and taper gauges in standard and metric measurements.

• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
