Weld County Youth Conservation Corps Crew Member

Duties and Responsibilities

• Invasive species and hazard tree removal as a sawyer and/or a swamper
• Pesticide application
• In-home water assessments, installation of aerators, shower heads, and toilets
• Promote a strong service ethic while encouraging the development of teambuilding, self-worth, conflict resolution, effective communication, goal setting, and decision making
• Able to abide by WCYCC policies and procedures and maintain safety

Qualifications

• MUST BE 16 – 30 YEARS OLD TO APPLY
• Willing to undergo and must pass required criminal history checks
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license or identification card
• Must be able to pass a drug screening
• U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident
• Received or on track to receive high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to pass a drug screening
• Must have reliable transportation to and from service base
• Experience: Serving in a team environment, Performing conservation-related service, or general labor tasks
• Comfortable with power tools and serving in a hazardous environment

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 75+ lbs. alone and as a team
• Able to use/handle picks, sledgehammers, rakes, and shovels
• Able to transverse uneven terrain
• Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or to squat to perform tasks
