Weekend Evening Meteorologist

Responsibilities

  • Weather data analysis and forecasting
  • Working knowledge of radar information (able to interpret and analyze data)
  • Get our viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts on all platforms
  • Provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events
  • Able to ad lib weather information during breaking news, long-form weather cut-ins, as well as taking cues during on-air reporting
  • Use all the technology available to us, to tell an intriguing weather story
  • Deployed in the field during weather events
  • Gather information and summarize facts and content for broadcast
  • Attend daily editorial meetings
  • Keep News personnel up-to-date on current weather conditions
  • Attend community appearances

Requirements

  • Three years of Television News experience preferred
  • Professional or schooling on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
  • In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
  • Dynamic on-air presence with a conversational weather presentation
  • Knowledgeable about how to interpret and translate high-powered radar data
  • Experience with common television weather systems
  • Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics
  • Must be able to work all shifts (Holidays and weekends included)
  • NWA and CBM seals are a plus
  • Related military experience will be considered
