Summary
Responsible for the preparation, presentation, clean up, and storage of meals. Ensures adequate supplies for meal preparation and maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen and pantry.Responsibilities
- Maintain Kitchen/Pantry
- Keep kitchen clean and free of clutter
- Avoid placing food or boxes on the floor
- Take dirty laundry to the laundry room daily
- Log and report temperature of refrigerator and freezer daily
- Report broken equipment immediately
- Serve meals according to diet plans
- Set tables for meal times
- Clean up after meal times
- Kitchen Equipment
- Report broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately
- Avoid using kitchen equipment improperly
- Resident Services
- Know and adhere to Resident Rights
- Understand and serve residents' special diets, preferences, and dislikes
- Offer snacks and beverages at designated times
- Infection Control
- Practice proper hand washing techniques
- Follow standard precautions or other precautions as posted
- Dispose of waste properly and promptly
- Ensure kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
- Report any illness or injury to supervisor
- Safety
- Implement community safety procedures
- Fix or report any risks or situations that could lead to injury
- Report incidents or accidents involving staff, residents, or visitors
- Be prepared to respond to all types of emergencies
- Report any hazards violating city or state codes immediately
- Requirements
- Experience in cooking
- Negative TB skin test
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Ability to maintain acceptable work attendance record and follow work schedule
- Ability to organize and utilize time effectively
- Successfully complete state required training in allotted time frame
- Complete in-service training as required
- Working Conditions
- May use hand truck for lifting weights above personal limits
- May work 95% of time standing
- Lift up to 30 lbs repeatedly
- Work in varying hot and cold conditions related to kitchen equipment
- Work with cleaning chemicals
- Standards
- Do not work under the influence of alcohol or mood-altering drugs, illegal drugs
- Have neat appearance and adhere to the dress code (clean shirt without advertising, long pants with closed shoes, no sandals or sleeveless shirts)
- Willingness to promote independence, dignity, and choice among residents
