Weekend Caregiver

Visiting Angels of Tyler is hiring a Weekend Caregiver to serve senior adults throughout the East Texas area, including Canton, Ben Wheeler, Murchison, Tyler, Jacksonville, Palestine, and surrounding communities.

About the role

A Weekend Caregiver helps elderly and home‑care clients stay at home or recover with dignity. The position involves a variety of tasks tailored to each client’s needs, from personal care to companionship, and requires quick response to medical emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Manage light housekeeping tasks.
• Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
• Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the correct times.
• Help with shopping, grocery organization, or shop on behalf of clients.
• Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, respecting their abilities.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation, including house movement, doctor visits, and walks.
• Report health changes or unusual circumstances promptly in case of medical emergencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent time‑management skills.
• Reliable transportation to client visits.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
• A compassionate heart for vulnerable individuals seeking meaningful companionship.
• Willingness to comply with state and office‑specific health and safety standards.
