Fortress Nutrition is growing—and we’re looking for a strong, hands-on Weekend Shift Operations Lead to support and guide our Beverage Canning operations. This is a working leadership role, where you will lead the team on the floor while actively operating equipment and ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and meets quality standards.
About the role
Work 3 days and get paid for 40 hours. Lead weekend operations while earning a full-time paycheck, giving you more flexibility during the week!
Schedule
- Weekend Shift: Friday – Sunday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 3-day work week (36 hours worked, paid for 40 hours minimum)
Responsibilities
- Lead and support line operators in all production activities, including setup and operation of canning line equipment (filler, seamer, packaging, tanks, pumps, etc.)
- Act as a working lead—actively operating equipment while overseeing team performance
- Assign and coordinate daily responsibilities based on production needs in the absence of management
- Monitor production performance, safety, quality, and efficiency metrics
- Ensure all GMPs, food safety, and sanitation standards are followed at all times
- Perform and verify quality checks throughout production runs
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, escalating to Maintenance when needed
- Communicate production issues, staffing concerns, and performance updates to leadership
- Complete and oversee production documentation, shift reports, and line paperwork
- Lead shift handoff communication, ensuring continuity between teams
- Support training, coaching, and development of operators
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Operations teams
- Maintain a strong sense of urgency to address issues quickly and keep production running
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of machine operating experience (high-speed packaging preferred)
- 3+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience in a production environment
- Strong knowledge of high-speed production line equipment and troubleshooting
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to lead independently without direct supervision
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Must be reliable, accountable, and able to lead by example
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Proven experience coaching, developing, and managing employee performance
- Experience handling disciplinary actions and working with HR on employee relations matters
- Must operate with a high sense of urgency and ownership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food, beverage, bottling, or canning manufacturing
- Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, and quality standards
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in high-volume production environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
- Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs
- Bending, kneeling, climbing (stairs/platforms), and operating machinery
- Talking, hearing, reaching above shoulders; using hands to finger, handle, grasp, pinch or touch objects, controls, tools or equipment
Pay
Starting Pay: $27.00+ (with higher rates offered based on experience and leadership background)
Paid for 40 hours per week, while working only 36 hours
