Weekend Camp Staff

About the Role

These positions assist the Camp Director in providing and maintaining an efficient, safe, and meaningful Girl Scout Leadership Experience and Camp Programming in the following program areas:

• Waterfront (Lakes and Pool)
• Nature
• Arts and Crafts
• Archery
• Hiking
• Night Program
• Miscellaneous programming (may include kitchen support and camp kapers)

Weekend Kitchen Camp Staff are also accountable to the Kitchen Supervisor for the administration and operation of the kitchen and food preparation, as well as supporting camp programming in dining hall and units.

Location

Camp in Riverside County.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate and participate fully in all planning and programming of camp activities.
• Understand and know campers in their unit, helping them respect others and appreciate differences to maximize their camp experience.
• Ensure the health and safety of campers and staff, including self.
• Submit required records, reports, and inventories.
• Maintain equipment and perform delegated duties.
• Take a positive leadership role in program areas and camper units.
• Promote camp and unit cohesiveness.
• Guide activities and experiences using girl planning and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) Program.
• For Kitchen Staff:
  • Provide ample, well-balanced meals for all camp participants.
  • Assist in all areas of kitchen operations: food supply, preparation, serving, cooking, cleaning, and dishwashing.
  • Adhere to Riverside County health and safety standards.
  • Maintain high customer service for camp participants.
  • Keep the Kitchen Supervisor informed of any issues involving food service, staff, or campers.

Requirements

• Willing to accept the beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout Movement and its relevance.
• Adhere to the purpose and principles of Girl Scouting and all GSOC policies and procedures.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Enjoyment and appreciation for the outdoors.
• Ability to share living quarters with other staff (may include rustic or dormitory-style cabins).
• For Program Camp Staff:
  • Current and valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Good communication skills; ability to keep supervisors informed of camper activities and issues.
• For Weekend Kitchen Camp Staff:
  • Current and valid Riverside County Food Handlers certification (ServSafe preferred).
  • Experience working in food service (camp setting preferred).
