About the Role

As a Roadway Maintenance Technician in Webber’s Infrastructure Management team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of roads and infrastructure assets, as well as roadway incident response and traffic restoration efforts. This role involves working on roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, litter removal, drainage, and more, following contract standards and supervisor directions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean appearance of highways and medians, including removal and disposal of litter and debris.
• Maintain and repair roadway surfaces by filling potholes, replacing striping, installing/reflecting reflectors, and working on concrete.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair of roadway assets and equipment rooms, including portals, railings, expansion joints, doors, and painting.
• Maintain and repair roadway signs, guardrails, fencing, and lighting using hand or power tools.
• Transport crew and equipment to work sites using large trucks, specialized motor vehicles, and trailers.
• Set up and remove traffic control devices (cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage) to create safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) and Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) zones.
• Assist law enforcement officers in managing traffic or roadway-related incidents.
• Work from heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platform lifts.

• Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with federal, state, and local legal and procedural requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Two years of work experience in infrastructure, maintenance, or repair (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record (required).
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
• Ability to obtain Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification within three months of hire.
• Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within the first month of hire.
• Availability to respond to traffic incidents within contractual timeframes.
• Three years of CDL Class A experience in manual transmission (preferred).

• High level of attention to detail and ownership of responsibilities.
• Basic knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in concrete, asphalt repair, construction, and maintenance.
• Skill in using and caring for small hand and power tools.
• Ability to interface with the public professionally.
• Availability for 24/7 operations, including holidays, nights, weekends, overtime, 2nd & 3rd shifts, and on-call duties.
• Basic knowledge of technology (e.g., smartphones) (preferred).

Work Environment

• Exposure to live traffic during roadway/traffic incident response.
• Frequent exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes or airborne particles.
• Exposure to moderate to high noise levels.
• Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and humid weather.
• Frequent exposure to insects, reptiles, and rodents.

Physical Demands
