Responsibilities
- Operate a bulldozer safely and efficiently to cut ditches, slopes, grades, clear brush, shape, and dress slopes.
- Perform earthmoving activities, including starting engines, moving throttles, switches, and levers, and depressing pedals to operate machines.
- Signal truck drivers to position trucks for loading dirt, rocks, and other materials.
- Avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, equipment, workers, and falling objects.
- Perform maintenance procedures on equipment, including oiling, greasing, and servicing the machine.
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to equipment.
- Complete other unlisted duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications.
- Capability to move throughout a construction jobsite, including navigating minor obstacles, climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of and adherence to the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the safety manual.
High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required. Three or more years of related construction experience is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day-to-day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
- Manual Dexterity: Sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers, with the ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).
- Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and high and/or precarious places.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
