Weapons Test Scientist (Scientist 2/3)
About the role
The Weapon Verification and Validation Division (V-Division) ensures weapon designs meet requirements and perform as intended through investigations, qualification tests, and evaluations, collaborating across the Weapons Engineering Directorate and the Nuclear Security Enterprise. V-21 is the laboratory's center of excellence for complex weapon experimentation and system-level testing, supporting qualification, development, surveillance, stockpile assessment, and modernization efforts. The group works with engineering, physics, manufacturing, and operations organizations at Los Alamos, Sandia, Lawrence Livermore, Nevada National Security Site, and other national security partners. This position may be assigned to one of four V-21 teams: Flight Systems Team (qualification, development, and surveillance testing of weapon flight systems and associated environments); Materials Compatibility Team (development, qualification, and surveillance testing of material compatibility, aging, and performance); Stockpile Survivability Team (evaluation of system performance and survivability under demanding mechanical, thermal, and operational environments); Physics Validation Team (integrated weapon experiments, hydrodynamic testing, and other experimental programs providing critical validation data for stockpile stewardship). As a Weapons Test Scientist, you will help
