Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on M240D machine guns and other associated equipment, mounts, squibs, CAD/PAD, and shop support items in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures and the PWS.
- Performs cleaning and corrosion treatment on gun system components.
- Removes and replaces aircraft installed weapons systems components and equipment.
- Removes and installs guns.
- Performs flightline functions including preflight and postflight weapons requirements to include guard duties as directed.
- Documents all inspection and maintenance actions in aircraft forms and IMDS.
- Follows established armory and maintenance room security procedures.
- Complies with flightline munitions accountability requirements IAW AFI 21-201.
- Performs Red X and IPI inspections.
- Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
- Applies technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
- Performs basic helicopter ground handling procedures such as towing, jacking, refuel/defuel as needed.
- Operates Ground Support Equipment.
- Participates in FOD walks.
- Knowledge and experience in technical, safety, and environmental issues involving Weapons maintenance.
- Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Weapons technical procedures.
- Willing to travel on occasion.
Physical Demands
- Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- CLIMBING - Ascending or descending using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- HANDLING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
- EXPOSURE TO WEATHER - Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather (while conducting exterior ramp operations).
- NOISE - Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss (while conducting exterior ramp operations).
Qualifications
- Education / Certifications: USAF or equivalent Weapons formal military training required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
- Experience: Recent experience at the 5 level (or equivalent) as a Weapons/Armament specialist (1 year within the last 3 years).
