Weapon Control Analyst/Engineer, Shipboard Systems Group
About the role
We are seeking a current or former Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) operator to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a cross-disciplinary team dedicated to supporting the Navy and warfighter through system analysis and virtual trainer development.
Responsibilities
- Define system requirements and specifications for integrating Launcher and Fire Control operations of the Trident II D5 SWS into a virtual reality (VR) training simulator.
- Conduct training sessions and usability testing with US Navy fleet participants, gathering and incorporating feedback to improve simulator performance and training capability.
- Participate in a wide variety of test and evaluation efforts, including full scale system tests conducted at government owned test facilities or onboard Navy platforms.
- Analyze data from deployed and future weapon systems to uncover areas of vulnerability or degradation, providing this information back to operators in the field.
- Influence future weapon system designs to create robust, secure, resilient solutions.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience working directly with the Trident II D5 Fire Control System.
- Active Secret security clearance and eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience as an instructor or weapons system evaluator for Trident II D5 SWS Launcher and Fire Control Systems.
- Knowledge of ship systems that support the SWS, e.g., Ship Control.
- Experience with additional weapon systems, including the Air Force Minuteman III or Sentinel systems, or with COLUMBIA or VIRGINIA-class submarines.
