WDI Show Lighting Design Intern, Spring 2027

This internship is approximately January to June 2027 and will be located in Anaheim, CA or Orlando, FL.
Responsibilities
As an intern on the team, you will work with the group that researches, designs, develops, installs, tests and adjusts, and/or documents new projects. These projects apply architectural and theatrical lighting techniques supporting the creative vision for attractions, restaurants, merchandise areas and/or area development in our WDW Orlando based theme park and resort areas. Other tasks may include inventory control for equipment and supplies. Specific responsibilities and shifts may vary day to day based on each project’s needs and availability of the workplace.
- Develop, under supervision, designs of show lighting
- Prepare, under supervision, basic lighting design and field implementation
- Troubleshoot and install existing lighting in a construction environment
- Provide general support to Lighting Designers
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with theatrical or architectural lighting
- Experience with AutoCAD & Revit
- Computer literacy with MS Office products
- Ability to work as a member of a technical team
- Valid Driver’s License
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree majoring in a Theatrical or Architectural Lighting program, or related field
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
- Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work
- Must be fully available for the duration of the internship
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship in Anaheim, CA (limited housing opportunities may be available for Florida-based interns through American Campus Communities)
Pay
The pay rate for this role in Anaheim, CA or Orlando, FL is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
