Waxahachie Bakery - Cake Decorator - Part time

Responsibilities

• Apply proper decorating techniques and maintain quality of products by following guidelines.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis while maintaining all department and food safety/sanitation standards.
• Provide superior customer service.
• Take cake orders from customers by telephone or in person with a high level of accuracy.
• Answer customer questions regarding products; assist them with selections.
• Use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
• Apply proper decorating techniques for each item according to visual training aids (VTAs) to produce quality cakes and pastries.
• Write on cakes with icing on request.
• Read/execute daily production list through cake flow.
• Ensure quality control of all products before sending to sales floor per VTAs.
• Ensure cake product reaches the showcase and tables at prescribed times.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively.
• Slice, package, label, and rotate products.
• Record production and shrink to aid in production planning.
• Maintain sanitation in work area.
• Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards.
• Comply with department/store operating procedures.
• Operate/maintain all equipment properly.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• Age: 18+
• Work Experience: 1+ years of experience (required)
• Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (required)
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine) (required)
  • Strong customer service skills (required)
  • Communication and interpersonal skills (required)
  • Reading and writing skills (required)
  • Planning and organizing skills (required)
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Completion of Company Orientation (required)
  • Safety training (required)
  • E-commerce Online Ordering training upon hire (required)

Function in a fast-paced, retail environment, performing detailed and precise tasks while working with customers and staying attentive to their needs.
