Mission

Serve as a supervisor for hourly employees in the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner. This position reports to either a Production Manager II or Area Manager.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
  • Manufacture a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, while meeting customer specifications.
  • Ensure safe manufacture of products, safety in areas of supervision, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements of immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain awareness of policies and procedures and assure compliance by assigned employees.
  • Achieve target earned hours and meet or exceed budget criteria.
  • Develop, train, and involve employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  • Ensure employees work safely and are properly trained in all safety procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Manage employee attendance to ensure adequate staffing for required production schedules.
  • Resolve employee grievances, provide necessary feedback on performance, conduct formal performance appraisals, and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Interview and hire qualified individuals in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Ensure adequate equipment and supplies are available to complete tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus college-level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, and statistics.
  • Additional training in motivation, problem-solving, and group behavior, or completion of PCC Certificate program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Two to five years’ experience in related production operations with good ability to facilitate team problem-solving and communicate orally and in writing.
