Wax Injection Assembler

About the Role

Report directly to the wax room department lead or designated backup. Follow direction and supervision to achieve daily goals and expectations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Produce acceptable PAR performance at all wax room stations.
• Rotate workstations regularly to operate all wax injection machines and workstations, including assembly, ensuring cross-training for workload changes and absenteeism.
• Complete first piece checks, sign off, and electronically document them (M9-3-1).
• Provide meaningful feedback related to PAR metrics.
• Manipulate molds to facilitate setup of presses and removal of wax patterns.
• Interpret and comply with all wax room-related ISO 9001 work procedures.
• Follow job-specific manufacturing routing information.
• Visually inspect all wax parts, assemblies, and trees for surface acceptance.
• Repair wax parts to remove unacceptable surface defects (e.g., holes, scratches) that may appear as cracks in cast products; straighten distorted parts or reject them via the NCR process.
• Determine wax repair requirements for appearance in consultation with the Wax Room Leadsperson and Foundry Supervisor.
• Monitor and maintain wax room records, routing tickets, first piece tool inspections, and sign-offs in the Manufacturing Data Information File and EDA Computer System.
• Operate all wax room equipment, including hand tools, wax injection machines (with ability to change wax canisters), wax melters, and wax tempering cabinets.
• Communicate professionally with all personnel.
• Assist in other Foundry Departments as needed.
• Arrive at your workstation on time to start production at the beginning of your shift (6:00 A.M. or 12:00 P.M.) unless temporary arrangements are made with the Foundry Supervisor.
• Utilize the NCR system for parts needing rework due to defects or when job quantities fall below minimum requirements (M11-2-1).
• Work overtime as determined by the Foundry Supervisor, based on regular reviews of workstation queues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training in machining or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely carry parts between workstations.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
