Position Summary

Sugarbush is seeking a Water/Wastewater Utilities Director to oversee all aspects of the Sugarbush-owned utilities, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate maintenance of infrastructure, including water/wastewater plants, pumps, pump systems, compressors, electrical components, telemetry, etc.
  • Work closely with the Facilities department regarding snow removal/storm water plans and impact on road maintenance, ditches, and sediment basins.
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory for critical repair components.
  • Compile and update maintenance schedules and appropriate documentation.
  • Address issues related to potential disasters, including chemical, physical, or mechanical problems.
  • Monitor all utility operations to ensure compliance with permit requirements and regulations.
  • Supervise/assist in handling service line breaks, plant equipment malfunctions, and other emergencies.
  • Oversee all major construction and repair projects, including monitoring work done by outside contractors.
  • Develop and maintain operational and capital budgets to ensure safe and proper operation of all facilities and meet long-term planning goals.
  • Supervise/assist staff in daily operations.
  • Work with the Planning Department to ensure all permitting and reporting requirements are met.
  • Stay updated on new regulations and technological developments in the field and advise company officials accordingly.
  • Manage customer relations with system users.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement includes Grade 2 State of Vermont Wastewater License, Grade 4B State of Vermont Water License, and at least 5 years of experience managing water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Vermont State Lab awareness and ability to maintain training hours and hazmat emergency response.
  • Ability to use equipment such as pumps, compressors, and laboratory equipment.
  • Good mechanical skills with general knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Able to work outside for long periods in various weather conditions.
  • Able to be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Able to gain access to remote areas of the resort without mechanical assistance.
  • Able to communicate effectively over the telephone, 2-way radio, and in person.
  • Able to perform heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Pay

$70,000 annually, depending on experience.

Schedule

Full-time year-round.
